Dart Heads????
Dart Heads????
anyone heard anything about the New 225 Dart Heads for the LS1 im debating on weather to spend a 1000$ to have my stock LS1 heads ported and have the valves done or to just spend the 1200$ and buy the brand new 225 dart heads assembled or i can get them bare for 950$.
Re: Dart Heads????
but how big are the intake runners on the TSP heads?
i know i'm looking at the Dart 205 heads to help boost low end. some of the ported 5.7L, 5.3L and LS6 heads are over 230cc intake runner. this may hurt low end, but will definatly perform in the top end.
kindda depends on what you want out of the heads

Re: Dart Heads????
The DART 205 and 225 are both very nice heads. While there aren't many people running them just yet, or at least that are posting power numbers. I expect to see great things from those heads.
We have a couple of cars waiting to dyno in the spring, that will give us some input. Also there are a few head guru's hard at work on a CNC port for those heads.

i am about to put my dart 225's on here in a month or so maybe sooner. There going on my 224/224 .576/.576 112lsa crane cam with LS6 intake and a ported throttle body. Its on stock bottom end and i know its not the biggest cam but i am hopen for about 430rwhp, i know i may not get that but a man can dream right. My setup isnt an all out horsepower one either. plus i couldnt beat the price i got these heads for!!

Re: Dart Heads????
i think that'd be a pretty impressive record for the 224 cam...
i'd expect more like 400-410rwhp
i would think with that cam, you'd be better off with the 205s for good low end power

Re: Dart Heads????
I know i may be expecting much i know but i believe i maybe able to achieve it. Here is my view point on the heads, 205 are a smaller runner than stock, i believe stock is somewhere around 215cc not sure exactly. The 225s are smaller cc wise than most cnc'd 243 heads. Therefore i am not losing as much velocity by goin to a cnc'd 243. The only downside i see to haven the 225 would be the large intake valve which is a 2.05. Also with 205 which would give me better down low power, when you race people from a roll your never really start below 4,000rpms anyways and even from a stop it may only hurt me in first gear, so the 205's wont flow as much air at that rpm unlike the 225's. I can always switch out the cam also if i think it need a larger shaft, but right now the 224 has enough lift that i believe along with a well know ls1 builder here intown that it should put down some good numbers. That is my viewpoint on it and will post some number when there on, hey a man can dream right or hope i should say lol!
