Dart 205's and F14 Dyno Results In!!!!

Just got back from my dyno tune at Carolina Auto Masters. Here are the numbers that I really wasn't expecting; 440.1HP/411.2TQ

This is on my '02 Z28 with Dart 205's (milled .020), F14, 30lb Ford inj., ATI Pulley, Dynatech Headers, catted Y, Magnaflow catback, home ported TB, Whisper lid and CAI.

Thanks to Futral Motor Sports and Dart for their great products and customer service.
Also Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters for all of his advice and his tuning expertise.

damn that's sweet...very similar setup to what i'm running...and the heads that i want.

did you really spin it to 7000???

wonder how it would do with a more open exhaust?

very impressive

Yea , I was a little nervous about spinning the motor that high. But with the PSI springs and titanium retainers that the Dart heads come with, the guy doing the dyno tune (Jeff Creech), said it would be safe to set the rev limiter to 7200. From what I have heard, read about and seen from him, I have faith that he knows what he is talking about.

No need to spin the motor that high. My limiter was set at 6900rpm by Futral with the bigger heads 225s and cam F-15 and made peak horsepower (471 rwhp) at 6500 rpm.

Nice numbers. My buddy did the exact same combo (F14, 205s and LS6 intake manifold w/ported stock TB), but with a better exhaust setup and went 451/423.

For one thing, he has the LG Motorsports longtubes since he has a Vette, which are worth around 10 more lbs-ft of torque over any other LS1 header. Secondly, he isn't running cats and has a bullet muffler setup instead of traditional chambered muffler, however, he has more drivetrain loss because he's using an IRS Y-body instead of a solid-axle F-body, so his engine in your car with his exhaust would make more like 460 rwhp.

what do you think the results on the original poster's car would have been with the 225cc heads?

i assume a little more top end and slightly less low and mid range?

i'm debating on 205s or 225s

then again i've also recently spoted the trickflow 215 heads hmmm

That's pretty much what they'll do. Considering that STOCK LS6 heads are around 200cc, you'll pick up around 30 rwhp over those, as shown by my friend. I'm guessing maybe around 10-15 more rwhp with the 225s, but a more narrow powerband. My Vette used to turn on at 4000-4500 with the cam-only, but with the addition of the heads turned on at 3500.

I'm a little out of the loop.. whats the stats of this F14 cam? Does it have much faster ramps?

what kind of springs are used? Single or duals? Are they made out of that tool metal stuff, or did someone build a better spring?

232/234 .598/.598 112 LSA. It's one of the Futral Motorsports line of cams that made over 400 rwhp on about 100 different cam-only 6-speed cars. Most people use the F-13, but I used the F-15.

PRC Dual Springs are fine.

woah, that is lots of duration and a tighter lsa.. How does it idle and behave down below? any surging?

do those dual springs need slight grinding to fit?

it's actually called the RJ cam on their site...get it..."ron jeremy"

FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 236"/239" .600"/.611" 111LSA - aggressive profile with a 3500-7200 RPM range, rough idle

mike had a video of it idling...it didn't surge from what i could tell...that's all in the tune

No surging. Cam behaves awesome.

The F-15 (RJ-15) has a little surge obviously because it's on the bigger side. Even that can be cured by running a 4.10 or 4.30 gear behind the 6-speed.
