A cutout question

Ok, so every person I tell I have a cutout on my car looks at me like I just got my a$$ kicked and goes "The LS1 needs a lot of back pressure or it will lose horsepower and eventually ruin the engine." Is this smoke being blown or what? Cuz I sure do feel something extra when I drive with that thing off.

I think they are blowing smoke. The last I have heard is that the cutout is superior to a catback.

Ok I know that it will outflow just about anything but......what about the backpressure problem? Is that a probem with the LS1 or no?

I love my cutout but, when the car is not warm it pops so darn loud. sounds like a shotgun. It will do this for about 5 to ten minutes when it is colder outside.

is it an auto? if its a m6, push in the clutch and cost to a stop until the cats warm up. if you dont, the soundwaves popping back can mess up the cats...

My car would pop when the motor was cold even with the oem exhaust, it was just muted more.

My car feels a lot stronger with the cutout, not to mention that there is still some backpressure at the motor(from the cats, and ultra restrictive flat Y pipe) if you are just dropping a cutout in the OEM Y pipe. I dont think it is a big issue, but i have not run my car down the track since the addition of the cutout.

My car is a manual and I always put it in neutral and coast when I stop. It is when I take off and get it to about 2200 rpms.

The theories some people come up with. Maybe they need some muffler bearings in their cars too.

I've got a cutout on mine, but when it's cold outside, I still get condensation clouds from both exhaust tips. I'm guessing that means I'm still flowing enough through the muffler to get some backpressure. ???

Seriously though, I have never seen anyone kill an LS1 from lack of backpressure.

wait on it bro.....trust me. In a few months they are coming out with carbon fiber muffler bearings. they will give you like 15 hp, and its a 30sec install too.
