cutout pointless on a magnaflow?

trying to plan my exhaust.

do you think a single 3" cutout will gain much on a magnaflow catback? i know the MF is pretty low restriction, so i'm not sure i would gain much other than sound.

here are my ideas, all behind longtubes and orp:

-basic 3" catback system with bullet in Ipipe, without a cutout

-3" ipipe with 18" bullet (reduce the rasp a bit) into a 3" cutout, then the magnaflow muffler

-save money and buy a second cutout (have one electric cutout already), and install it on the Ypipe just behind the header collectors. this would give me MAX gains and since they are electric will only be used on rare occasions.

i'm trying to figure this out, cause i'm thinking i could just sell the cutout and electric plate and use the money towards the headers or other mods that will yield more power (ls6 intake or roller rockers)

Get the cutout because I think it is restriction free since you bypass the catback.

yeah but will i really gain much.

i only drive the car on the street since there isn't a track within 200miles.

so having a $175 electric cutout, which will only gain me 2-3 hp over the muffler seems kindda a waste, money better spent elsewhere

how much of a gain will the dual cutouts be over the catback?

10hp?

You might gain 1-4 HP over the cat-back. And...uh...if you wanna sell it.....let me know!

A friend of mine with a 383 stroker gained 20rwhp over his spintech cat-back.I know he has a stroker motor but that's a HUGE gain.I have a Dynomax cat-back and I gained 9rwhp on the dyno.

hm....decisions decisions...

i guess i could spring for the regular cutout, make it a dual cutout system, if i like it enough...notice enough gain..i can save up for the second electric plate...

we'll see
