cut-out
cut-out
Ok, my TA is stock and I'm going to get an exhaust system this saturday. I want to get Flowmaster 80s, I know they're not the best, but for now I don't have 700 bucks for an exhaust system. Can't I just get a cut-out for whenever I go to the track or something? I'm looking for just something loud, I don't care about sound quality. I got quoted for 250 bucks installed for the flows. Anything that would be better at a similar price?
Also, a final question. Would a future header install present me with any problems with the exhaust system? Or a future 383 buildup? thanx

My setup: flowmaster muffler (used, $20.00, picked up), Flowtech cutout (new, $40.00 shipped) and MPP2 electric plate (new, $120.00 shipped). Installation (muffler and cutout) $50.00.
Total cost: $230.00
Pros:[list=1][*]Louder than stock when cutout is closed.
[*]Very loud when cutout is open (opens in just a couple of seconds).
[*]At least same, if not better, hp gains than if buying a catback.
[*]Less expensive than pretty much any catback.

Cons:[list=1][*]None, so far, IMO

Think about going with the "American Thunder" by Flowmaster because I think that is the popular one for our LS1. I am going with the Flows for my SS, because I love the sound of the Flowmaster, and if you need performance from exhaust get the cutout. I will sacrifice a few horsepower if it saves me over 300 hundred dollars and have quality sound. Also there are a few guys here that have Flowmasters and use performance y pipes and headers with no problems. Go for it!!!
