Curious about my car vs a 97 z.
I have a 1999 Camaro z28 m6with a 2001 ls1 with a ls6 intake on it. About 19000 on the motor and about 64000 on the body, i also have borla catback. He has a 1997 z28 m6 with headers (not sure what ones) and exuast. Just kinda curious to what he and i would do against eachother. Anyone with any input please post and let me know... It would be of much help... if u need anymore details just ask! Thanks, bye.
This is actually kind of funny that you ask this right after me and a few others just had a long debate in the Track kill stories section here. Basically the debate was about what a LT1 M6 with just LT headers, cutout and CAI (like a FIPK) would dyno and trap. Some said 300-315 RWHP and 107 traps can be accomplished with just the exhaust work and CAI.
Others said it was BS. Some produced a few dyno sheets and "I swear I saw it" testimonials. All I know is some claimed to get 285-290ish rwhp while others claimed 300-315 rwhp. Now basically if your friend has one of the strong dyno LT1's it'll be very close with him probably winning (IF he really has a 315 RWHP and 107 trap).
If he has a 285-290 RWHP with a 103ish trap then I would say it'll be close with you edging him out. If yours is a strong Dyno/trap and his is a weaker one then you should win decisively.
But no matter what it's a heads up drivers race. One misshift and a loss is almost guaranteed. With M6's you have to always take driver ability into account.
Now that I have you more confused then ever I'll wish you good luck.
And stay safe!
