cross country
As long as the Z is in good running condition, you should have no problems. Also, change the oil when you get to Cali
I've done this twice, Cali to NY, then NY to Cali. It's really cool to see what our country looks like. I had my brother with me on both trips, but if your going alone, be prepared to get very sleepy. The sun in your face all day and just the drive, makes you so tired. We found ice and those vivarin (sp?) pills did the trick. Although popping those pills for a couple days straight, gave us both massive head aches after we stopped.
Good luck

but...I don't think the question was answered,
I am thinking about the same kind of trip, GOOD question, what I think your wondering is can the Camaro handle driving for 300 miles at 75-80 mph without stopping except for gas? things like that when you normally drive an Impala or something on cross country trips. Hey, my little bit of advice: if your driving thru Iowa/Nebraska on I- 80, you'll have to seek out BP-Amaco stations for JUST 92 Octane and don't put that Ethanol crap in there! WE DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING HIGHER THEN 92 OCT and that is harder to find!
Like any other car, make sure everything is in good condition.. I'd change the oil and filter too since you'll be driving alot. Unless you radically modded your car, it'll do great.
I drove from NJ to Lousiana to Oregon fully loaded in my 99 Z28. No problems at all. It wasn't bad at all actually, if you can find a comfortable position in your seat.. Set the cruise control to 75, keep the wheel straight (although my car never had any major tramrailing problems) and try not to fall asleep.
I filled up on premium gasoline from whatever station along the way (although I usually tried to go to big brands if it was available) .. No problems.. Our cars stock aren't too too picky with gas, atl east mine wasn't..
GM's real life test trials for these cars are alot more demanding.
I took my time.. no point in stressing yourself out and driving dangerously drowsy, only to arrive at your destination collapse and be sick for another day or so.. Take breaks, filling up your tank when it reaches the half way mark was convenient for both me and the car. Drove from 8 AM to 8 PM.. Driving in the middle of nowhere at night, with everything closed, while you are running out of gas in not cool.
