Crappy gas mileage?

I just changed my rims from the factory z28 rims (16x8) to jumbo Z06 rims (18x9.5) . Ever since then, i've had HORRIBLE gas mileage! I went with the nitto 555's in 285/35/18 and they look sweet, but I was wondering if maybe those are causing my bad gas mileage. Anybody have the same problem? before I was getting probably 290 miles to a tank of gas, and now its almost empty at 220.

well since you went to a physically smaller in diameter tire you gained a hair of gear advantage which will make you loose some mpg other than that it shouldve only changed it a hair.

Yeah, I wouldn't imagine it changing THAT much...when I go from my stock 215/60R16s to my 275/40R17s, I don't notice much of a change at all, and I have a 3.4 (read: "and I have a gas hog of a base model engine")
