ok this is what's going on i've had my camaro for 1 year now love it, its had no major problems what so ever, and if it had a problem the dealer fixed it w/out any fuss till now!! recently while i'm accelerating right around 2700 to 3100rpm (it dosent it the worst in first gear but will do it all the way thru 6th gear) the car, what some have called "hesitated" but its more then that, it seems like i take my foot off the gass the smash the pedal to the floor. also it dosent seem to do it when i'm flooring it, or when i'm taking it real easy. Next while under hard acceleration in high RPM's it makes this horrible metal banging sound, amost like its pinging b/c of cheap gas but i use 93 octane. so this is what i tell the dealer when i brought it in for the warranty work. After 3 times later and the car still doing the same damn thing getting worse by the way they say that the car is in great shape and they cant find anything wrong! what could be causing this b/c i am lost??
bring it to them and if it keeps doing it after 3 times bringing to them tell them they are gonna have to give you a loaner car of the same value or better and if it isn't fixed your going to consider the car a lemon and or the dealer a lemon and you gonna call gm and figure out why it isn't fixed yet.
Hey,
My car was doing something VERY similar to yours. It had a bad hesitation problem around 2000-2500 RPM as you first start to drive for about 5 minutes through all gears. It did it most on cold days, but not on warm days.
I went to several different dealerships 5 times. They changed the fuel injectors and O2 sensors, but the problem persisted.
It turned out to be the computer. It somehow shorted out. DEFINITELY make them test your computer! My car is fine now.

First off, they have to be able to reproduce the problem.
You may have to show it to the mechanic, because the
description isn't very helpful as-is. If it only happens on
the road, that isn't going to line up very well with a
dealership diagnostic equipment set. The dealer's
idea of diagnostics is "plug it in, turn it on, write
it down and figure the bill". Especially when there's
no money in it. If you bitch enough, they'll figure out
a part to sell you (and the dumber you look, the less
relevant it'll be).
Maybe you need to get somebody with a laptop and
scan software to take a ride with you, if the dealer can't
provide that then either get a new dealer, a new friend
or buy the tools yourself. How much hassle is
the price of AutoTap and a used laptop worth to you?

hey guys thanks for all the help i'll be brining it back for the 3rd time after X-mas. i'll be telling them to check what you guys said the problem could be! if they still don't fix it i'm telling them i want a brand new engine due to that Florida lemon law. i've been reading up on that and if they don't fix it this time it falls into that catigory from what i can tell, i'll let you know how it goes.
this is an Ls1 correct? does the probem occur when the car is cold, hot, or all the time? does it have a rough idle? no check engine light? What you need to do is plug in the scanner and take a ride with the scanner onboard and take a look over the data stream. The fact you say the car hesitates or "loss of power" in the higher rpms leads me to think the MAF is going. Did you put an after market lid or filter element in? Also the pinging or knock sound is comming from timing retard, your computer is retarding timing, Since the car is pinging or what not, im also considering a MAP sensor at fault, since it plays a major role on fuel delivery and timing control. I can tell you ways of checking these sensor if you like. It's real easy since both sensors are easily accesable, and all you need is a multimeter. Back in the 80's Gm had a BIG problem with MAP sensors, and the results was something similar to what you are describing, pinging hesitation, people were swaping out distributors, ECM's, feed back carbs, u name it.
