Corvette engine in a Z?

Corvette engine in a Z?
I looked at a '98 Z today and it had the Corvette engine cover on the engine. Did any Zs' come from the factory with a Vette engine? Or is this someone trying to dress up the engine or could this be a replacement engine?

more than likely someone put the fuel rail
covers off the C5 on it so when they opened
the hood, all the people who don't know anybetter
would be assured its the "vette" motor. As if it were
lifted out of the vette and into his Z.
Why on earth would you want corvette lettering on a
Camaro unless you felt the need to boast your ego.
Probably a guy with a hairly chest and leaves alot
of buttons, unbottoned
Just goes along with my theory that anyone who really
gives a F already knows what engine you have.
He probably beat the hell out of it too, I'd look elsewhere.

This is a very common misunderstanding. All of the engines are the same except for some minor differences and the Z06 has an LS6 not an LS1. Everyone I know thinks I dropped a vette engine into my car lol. When they ask if it is a Vette engine, I just say of course!

Until I did some reading on this site (a couple years ago now
) I never realized that 'Vettes and F-bodies (Z28's & T/A's) almost always shared engines. From '93 - '97, F-bodies used the same LT1 engine as 'Vettes, then from '98 - '02, F-bodies used the LS1 " 'Vette " engine

Honestly? The LS1 is probably one of the best designed engines that GM has ever built. The power that it makes, and yet the fuel efficiency / economy of LS1 powered cars is quite impressive IMO. AND, they respond so well to even the slightest bolt-on mods!

Anyways, like said above they are just fuel rail covers-not an engine swap from a vette or anything like that

True the corvette always shared motors with the F body cars. If it was't for the legendary LS1 in the C5 to started with. You guys would'nt have a very strong engine in your cars would it?
What ever the corvette got for motor will eventually share with F body cars. But it is sad that is discontinued..

vettes got their motors 1 model year ahead.. so in 1997 when vettes got the LS1 the 1998 camaro was due to get the LS1..
In 1992 the vette had the LT1 while the 1993 F bods got it...
Same goes for the L98 as well..
If you ask me, its not a "vette" motor as much as its a GM motor..

and showoffs do what showoffs do. Just my interpretation.
Hell I don't like to buy cars with tinted windows cause
they likely belonged to a younger kid.

Fact is younger people are less conservative
and have less experience. The insurance is
higher for a reason. I'm 25 and when I was
18 I had a 91 that I thought was the fastest thing
going. I drove that car harder than I ever did my
SS and I think most people on this board will
tell you the same. Do you think you won't mature
and settle down as you get older or are you different
than the rest of the population. That's not
generalizing that's life.
Logically speaking, most tinted cars belong to
younger people and most younger people are harder
on their cars. Don't confuse "most" with "all"
