Cooling Question

I drained my cooling system, did the throttle bypass mod and installed a brand new 160 thermostat. I filled the system with 4 quarts of dexcool, a bottle of Water Wetter and the rest with water. I reprogrammed the computer with a HPP3 to change when the fans come on. My temperature gauge needle is on the 2 in 210, so I estimate that it's about 200 degrees. Is it possible that I got a bad thermostat, my temp gauge is wrong or is something else the matter. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Curt

sorry to brake it to you, but the 99 and above F-bodys all have temp gauges that will still read 210 +/- a few all the time. They did this because they did not want to alarm their customers when they see the temp gauge fluctuate alot. even if your car is actually running at 175-180 (which is right for a car w/ 160* and fans coming on sooner) the gauge will still read 200-210.

Thanks for the insight. I guess now I'll be looking for a scan tool so I know the actual temp.

Thanks,
Curt

Cool cooling system

I have never head of anyone have the gage problem, but I have had air pockets in the cooling system and the gage would climb that high and even higher sometimes. Try and take the cap off the radiator when the car is cold then start it and wait until the coolent starts to flow, or get a cooking thermometer and place it in the radiator and then start the car and watch to see where it stops at. These are just two sugestions then let me know what you find out.
