Coolant light wont shut off

well, my low coolant light came on the other day (99 SS)... and I checked the levels, both hot and cold and they look fine... the light still comes on about every other time I turn the car on.. but not always.. is there a way I can fix this? I am selling my car so I don't want any lights on... what could be the problem? the sensor in the radiator? if so, how do I replace that.. is it easy?

`99's are bad about this. You can either a) pull the sensor, it's directly under the radiator cap, under the vent tube. You may need to remove the battery to get to it. Then clean it. This will work for a month of two. OR b) unplug it, the light with go off forever. I don't think the newer models, 00+, have it anyway.

Have the same problem with my ‘98Z. I just ignore it. After a couple months, you’ll hardly notice. Ranks right up there with ‘skip-shift’ in top ten list of idiot lights.

thanks for replys... I would leave it alone if I were keeping the car, but I don't want a light on for when I sell it.... doesn't look good... so is there a place where I can see a picture of exactly where the sensor is.. so I can take it out/ clean it/ replace it?

you can't miss it.

find the rad cap and follow the back side of the radiator down...it's about 4-6" below the top. a small 2 wire plug i believe.

i unplugged mine last week...not problems now
