Yeah, I paid $300 here in Florida.

chevyzman: Go higher on the stall if you can, you'll want more.

I would getting nothing less than a 3200 stall. The Midwest Converters are great and have a 2 year warranty. I bought a 3600 stall and it kicks ***.

That looks like a real pain in the A$$ to do.

If I ever decide to get one, i'll be sure to pay for it to be installed.

It is not that bad. I had my TC installed and drivng the car in 5 hours. The local shops were going to charge me $450 for the installation. That document kicks *** and well explains the install.

Definately go bigger. I (along with 99% of the LS1 pop.) wouldn't go any lower than 3200. I'm going with AT LEAST that when time comes around for my tax return

Something to keep in mind.
An automatic trans has clutches and bands in it and like a stick shift car will eventually wear the clutch out so will the automatic trans wear the bands and clutches out. And the harder that you use it the quicker it will wear out.
Yes adding a high stall will shorten the life of your automatic as it multiplies torque more and puts the car in the power band faster. But so will adding power, excessive downshifts, WOT runs. It's part of the game.
That being said. I have a 3800 rpm stall in my car and I drag race the snot out of it (over 450 passes so far). Will the trans wear out to the point of failure? Heck yeah. Will I be upset when it happens? Nope. It's a wear item and I'm wearing on it pretty hard. Would I give up the gains of a high stall for a longer life trans? Again NOPE.
Yes a cooler will help ward off excessive wear and so will frequent fluid changes.
