clutch problems
I started having clutch problems last week, back out of driveway, clutch would stick to the floor & wouldn't go in or out of gear. I could pop the clutch pedal back up with my foot but since then the clutch is catching right off the floor, it used to catch about 3/4 of the way up. It happens from time to time. I took it to a repair shop & they replaced the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, etc. I think they replaced the slave cylinder as well as that's what they went in to do in the first place & replaced the other parts since they were in there anyway as they were worn & warped.
I got the car back & the clutch is still engaging close to the floor & sticking on occasion, so I dropped the car back off at the shop.
Any other suggestions that we might have missed ?

Re: clutch problems
text book symptoms of a bad clutch master cylinder. find a new shop for your own good. the clutch master cylinders seem to go out pretty easily. mine failed at 48k miles. theyre a bit of a pain to swap, but not the worst thing youll ever have to do. and theyre not terribly expensive. i got one from autozone for something like $70. if you have the money though, i would recommend a higher quality adjustable one. and for future reference, check your clutch fluid every time you change the oil. if its looking dark, swap out all the fluid higher than the transmission. theres a quick connect fitting there. pop it out, have a friend press the clutch pedal, and use a screwdriver or something similar to press on the middle of the flex line. keep doing that until the fluid comes out clear. and make sure your reservoir doesnt run dry. if you need help swapping over the master cylinder, check out the article that installuniversity has on it. i found it useful.

Re: clutch problems
oh, and if you need to drive before you get this fixed, be aware that the clutch will slowly start engaging as soon as you press the pedal. once the pedal goes down, it wont come up by itself. you need to pull it up, then press it down until it starts engaging the clutch. repeat that a few times, and the engagement point will be back up. it works if you need to drive, but get it fixed asap.

Re: clutch problems
Great ! Thanks for the info,on a side not the parts they replaced were in really bad shape anyway, especially the flywheel & throw out bearing, they were in really bad shape, they said they were going to replace the master cylinder now so if that is the problem that should take of it.
Again thanks very much !
