Clicking sound at high RPM
Clicking sound at high RPM
I've had this problem for a while now. When I floor it and the car RPMS are above 4500RPM to redline, there is this clicking type of noise. It sounds like its coming from the front of the car, but it gets stranger. I think its a driveline problem. I say this because the sound is not present if I put the car in park or neutral and rev it, it doesn't make this noise. It makes this noise at the top of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear(heard the sound in 3rd on the dyno). Car runs great, and made 305 rwhp and 323 rwtq on the dyno.
Anybody want to take a stab/guess at it?

It was a group session, I thought he had done the a/f ratio, but he didn't. Might be running rich since I have to clean the black crud off my chrome exhaust tips about every 3-4 months(~4000 miles). Where the cutout dumps under the back seat has been turned black too.

Sounds like rattling a bag of marbles I bet?
That would be pinging ... a.k.a. "spark knock" ... a.k.a. detonation. That is bad. What octane of fuel do you normally run?
I suggest something HIGHER than what you're currently running!
I had a problem with pinging when I had the Hypertech power programming installed ... it advanced the timing too much, and even running 94 octane, the car would ping like crazy from ~4500+ like you're saying yours is. I never realized it so much, until I dyno'd my car, and it became very apparent on the dyno just how bad the pinging was!
I've since pulled the Hypertech "power tune" out, and I can run 87 octane with little to no pinging...go figure
