Question Chirping sound

Here lately when I start my car in the morning or just a true cold start I hear this bird like chirping sound, Im thinking its a belt but cant truly pinpoint it any ideas?

I'd bet on the tensioner pulley. If not that, then the belt...

Funny ... my car makes a chirping sound after I shift with WOT. Sorry couldn't resist. Anyhoo, as Shane said, it's got to be the pulley or a belt.

I have heard of that problem but I always garage my cars so it has never happend to me.

yep sounds like a belt to me.

It stays under a car port...mine does chirp at wot but I blame that on 245's damn 16 in wheels.. ...never thought bout the tensioner

honestly, i dont think anyone cares if your car is in the garage or parked in the corn field the guy wants advice on his problem, a squeak , so why bother chime in?

Thanks....so how exactly should I check the pulley..sorry but I'm new to all this and I'm the only I know with an f-body??

check a book in the glove box called the owners manual for belt tension possibly?

I have the same problem. Only at cold starts. I've replaced the belt tensioner pulley and both belts. Next step is I guess to change the a/c belt tensioner. Who the hell knows with a problem like this.

I will say that on the 99's there was a specific TSB on the tensioner pulley so look into that. Dealership might fix it free, or at least replace that part.

i had that kind of problem, and it turned out that it was my throw out bearing in the clutch, go figure.i changed my tensioner and it didnt work.

What belts are you using? So many ls1 have belt issues... the best I have found are the Gatorback belts.

Stock belt for me is it as easy to change as the lt1 was?
