changing the valve springs

i have decided to put a cam in my car. i heard some bitchin cars this weekend and decided to spend the money. the install is probably about a month away but i am wanting to go ahead and change the valve springs next week since i have the money to buy them. i am going to have the cam installed at a local preformance shop for $250.00 but the shop also wants an additional $250 to change the valve springs. since i don't have that kind of money right now and figure i can save the money by changing the valve springs myself. i'm going to be working with a buddy who knows a bit about cars but was hoping to get a step by step on how swap the springs considering i know next to nothing about cars but am dying to learn. any help in this area would be greatly appricated.

What year is your car (that will be a relevant question later) Changing springs isnt hard. Go over to LS1tech.com and track down Larry Sample, and order one of his valvespring tools. It's about $30 and is worth 10x its weight in gold. I swapped all my springs in about 2 hours. As far as the cam install, go to www.ls1howto.com, and save yourself $250.

Compress the spring, removed the retainers, take spring off.

Try here www.ls1howto.com

I didnt look to see if it was in there, but I just removed my heads using that site, so it may very well be.
