ceramic headers or not?

I would like to buy some hooker headers, but does it really matter if they are coated or not? Is the coating more for looks?

Coating keeps the under hood temperatures down and susposely keeps the headers from rusting for an extra couple years. I am not going to have my headers coated. I'm just gonna spray em with some high temp paint and polish em myself.

yes, a coating is worth it. it keeps heat down and protects from rust. i have seen some headers that werent coated and.....well...after two years, they aint pretty.

Mine got so cool that the cats stopped functioning (cats need to hit a certain temp in order to work) and it was a PITA to pass emissions.

Ceramicheaders are a good way to go IMO. I have them in an old truck I'm fixing up. I had chrome headers before and they were a PITA.
