Ok after catching a nasty 2nd in my driveway, my driveshaft snapped in half and rear end was totaled in the process. 2 months later and about 2,800 later I got a new driveshaft and a strange 12 bolt in my 2000 M6 SS. Drove it around and it seemed fine, however after about 100 miles (following the break in procedure) I backed it out of my driveway for another trip and when I went to put the car into 1st, the shifter was locked into Reverse and wouldn't move, kind of like I didn't have the clutch depressed. Anyway, I got my dad to rock the car forward and back and it came out fairly easily and drove normal from what I could tell so I didn't think too much of it.... However the same thing happened again the next day where it got stuck in gear and I had to get a friend of mine to push me to get it to pop back out....


I have asked a few of my friends who were mechanics and they said it may be something internal with the transmission but I'm hoping it's nothing too serious, just thought I'd post it up here and see what you guys think may be wrong and possible fixes.

Sounds like the driveshaft broke a little more than your rear-end

 

sounds like you have a chiped or broken gear in the trans
