car is much slower than it should be, what should i check?

another thing ive read but only read once, is that the LS1 ECU will pull timing if the gas in the tank measures below a 1/4 of a tank. something about it helping with gas mileage. dunno if thats true or not or even if you were driving with a low tank of gas that night either.
I've never heard of the PCM pulling timing with a given amount of fuel in the tank. Pulling timing wouldn't increase gas mileage unless the pcm also leans the car out, which i highly doubt.

If you're changed plugs and the fuel filter and assuming the wires are good, a simple treatment of GM Top Engine Cleaner, which is basically Seafoam but in a spray can, may help. If you're getting timing retard at WOT, it could just be from carbon buildup.
