car droops to the right...what the heck???
Hello all-- I just noticed this today...when my car is at rest, and i'm standing at the rear i can see the passenger side of the car sags!
I measured it and yep, the pass. side of the car is 1 inch lower than the driver's side.
what could be causing this? could it be bad for the car?
'98z28, stock except for strut tower brace, ss-type hood, flowmaster exhaust. bought used with 19,700 miles...now 39,560 miles
Thank You

I noticed that yesterday when I was in my g/f's car backing out of my driveway. I'm not sure if it does or not, but it kinda appears that it does. It could just be because my axle's bent right now though :-/
well, so far it seems others don't have any driving problems with it...so maybe i'll just leave it be.
i had my Dad look at it today and he could barely tell it was lopsided.
if it gets worse: new suspension!

Some of the Ford Mustang Bullitt cars were having this problem. Ford told them that up to 1" lateral difference was acceptable and they would not do anything to correct it under warranty.
I suspect that GM would say something similar.
If you're going to upgrade the suspension anyway, don't worry about it for now.

Now it seems that every other car out there tips just slightly. it's so subtle you'd never know unless you were a car lover.
i wanna put sfc's and new shocks and stuff.
thanks guys for the replies!
It is common to 4th gen F-cars.
1" seems a little much though.
Every F-car I have ever looked at very closely leans to the passenger side when empty. Including all 3 I have owned.
The likely and widely accepted explaination is that it is compensating for driver weight. So when an average person is in the car it will be sitting level.

thanks for the help! yeah, i was looking through bmr's website and saw a lot of stuff i'd like to put. i already ordered sfc's
though i don't think they'll level out the car, at least it'll be stiffer

Yep, I noticed my '02 leaned a little right the first day I got it and looked at it from the rear on a level surface. I figured since I drive it alone most of the time it would level out over time. I'll ask my local GM guys what they think of it next time I see them. Later>>>>>>>

Interesting, never heard that. But it makes some sense. I'd rather have my car sitting straight when I'm driving it rather then while it's sitting in the driveway. But then you pile your big fat friend (or girl friend) into the passenger seat and you're back to where you started.
