Anyone know about how much a new door costs?

My new car.. at toys-r-us doing a favor for family...
was leaving when I had to let people cross while in the parking lot..
truck.. white dodge ram 1500.. backs up and hits my passenger door right where it meets with the front fender.


UGH!!

upset.. but want to know about how much the dealer will charge.. the lady whose fault it is said she would take care of it and would pay out of her own pocket if she can.. otherwise its her insurance that will be paying.. man that is beyond annoying..

at least a nice woman stopped and said that she would be a witness for me and gave me her info..

 

a new door would cost in the vicinity of $500 and if the air bags went out that could be $1000 because of the way the newer cars have air bags designed you may need to replace the dash if the air bags gave.

 

lol i should hope the airbags are ok!!!
anyways, if you need a door skin, i might just have one for sale.... that would more than likely be what GM would replace, is just the outer skin. just lemme know.

I am taking it to the Chevy dealer.. mainly because its a brand new car!! hehe

I am going to give her a chance to pay for it herself as she requested.. part of my do unto others policy.

How badly did she kill your door? If its new its not hard to match paint. Door skins are fairly good priced. I had my drivers side tboned to the point where a whole new door was needed...Wasn't to bad. she didn't break your window right?

 

well the estimate is going to be just under $1800.
Got the rental her insurance is paying for.
Shop said that I might have the car by friday.. just in time for a dyno day! yay!

I feel your pain. about 5 months ago i was at the new Wal-Marts grand opening. Since it was the grand opening...of course it was packed. I was in my 79 Trans Am which before that day...was DENT FREE ....a perfectly straight body. When i came out about 30 minutes later...my passenger door had been slammed into. Went to the security officer and there was nothing they could do about it. Since the T/A is not a daily driver...all i had was liability. So guess who paid for it. It cost me right at $400 to have it fixed and another $100 for them to spray. Luckily the paint job wasn't but a year and a half old so its not even noticeable now.
