cant start car, Security light comes on

My 99 ss camaro suddenly thinks I am trying to steal it. The secuirty light flashes everytime I try to start it, I noticed it came on the other day while I was driving, I have tryed everything from taking the postive post off the battery and letting it set there and trying to start it a hour later. What gives, P.S. I need to get back on the road soon, I got to bust some mustangs.

There are two microchips on your ignition key, one on either side. Get some rubbing alcohol and clean them with it. Once it dries, try starting your car

You might want to check if your battery is still good.

It's probably the chips in your key. If you have the spare key, try it and see if the problem goes away. The Keys are coded to prevent theft. If your code chip gets damages, you'll have to go back to a dealer to get it replaced.

Probably the ignition switch. Like the last guy said try different key. Same thing happened to me aqnd aI had to replace the ignition the switch was worn and couldn't read the chip no longer. Can was fine after that. Beware if you dont have a spare key i am not sure you should go make a copy. I did that and still had to replace the switch which cost about the same as a copy of the key.
