Can't clear SES light

I just got done doing the manual fan switch mod and it worked just like the Ultimate guide said it would. But when I switched it to high speed the SES light came on. No problem, I'll just reset the pcm. Didn't work. It's still there even after reseting and not using the switch. I did a search and found that I need a couple more 47ohm resistors to keep the ses off but why can't I reset the code right now? Shouldn't it clear and have to be tripped again? I reset the pcm by pulling the pcm bat and pcm ign fuses and leaving the key in the on/not running position for 12 minutes. Isn't that how you are supposed to reset it?

Re: Can't clear SES light

Something in the wiring is causing the code. It doesn't matter whether the fan is on or not if the wiring is wrong.

Everything works the way it's supposed to. Both fan setings work. And both led's work. I've also checked the wireing more than once.

I don't think so, but anything is possible. I'll check them. The fans work right by themselves and they are what I was working with so I don't know what could have blown. I'll check after I stick the extra 47 ohm resistors in.

I figured out why the code wouldn't reset. I didn't reset it correctly. I was pulling the fuses then turning the key to on and you are supposed to turn the key to on and then pull the fuses. I also put those resistors in and now I have no SES light !

can you give me a decent description of what you did, I'm having the same problem with my Speed Specialty Fan Switch and since the SES is lit up it won't pass inspection.

Re: Can't clear SES light

I just wired in the 3 47ohm resistors in this diagram. And it worked like a charm.
