A Camaro Z38 ?

Anyone here ever heard of a Z38? I thought I'd heard of everything Camaro/Chevy but I guess not. I was watching Monster Garage tonight and one of the builders owns a 1999 Camaro Z38. Someone here educate me. I wanna know. If you have pics, lemme see. thanks

its either a mistake, a custom one-off kinda project car (those builders tend to be a little out there) or the guys is a retard with a decal cutting machine and too much free time....

Mecham Camaros were badged as Z29s and if you wanted to spend a little more, they'd put the almighty letter R at the end: Z29R

Thumbs down

It is probably a 3.8L V6 camaro owner that wanted his car to look as 'cool' as a Z28, so he had special emblems made. I have seen some cars locally around here similarly (badged) like that. No such animal, though.

On Monster Garage they said it went "WELL OVER 200 MPH". I'd think its probably a modded z28 that he badged a z38. Maybe a long time ago that was an option package code (like the z28 is) and he reused the name.

Wasn't there a mid 80's model Z38----kinda similar to an Escort or an Accord?? I'm almost certain I've seen cars with a decal down along the running board with the Z38 ensignia!

Yeah I think your right. I believe chevy made a cavalier z38. It was a v6 cavalier but definately not a camaro.

I know they made a cavalier z something and I'm 95% sure it was z38.

They also made a beretta z something to I believe. It's a chevy thing .

I just did a google search and the cavalier is a z24. But they made a Monte Carlo Z38!

So it is:

Chevy Cavalier Z24

Chevy Camaro Z28

Chevy Monte Carlo Z38

So the car you saw was either a Monte Carlo or they took the badge from one and put it on a camaro.

Mystery solved. Muhahaha!

Exclamation

Are you sure they built a Monte Carlo Z38?? I know that Luminas (and then maybe Monte Carlos) were sometimes built as a Z36, but I've never heard of the Z38 before.

Cavaliers have always had the Z24 (after the 2.4L I guess?) and in recent years the Z22 as well (from 2.2L?) and Berettas had a Z26 option.

Still, no Z38 as far as I remember?!

I also found it was only made in 1998 so it wasn't an eighties car. Very little info on them other then some parts for sale and it was a V6.
