which cam for A4

im looking to do a cam swap later on. im deciding between 2 cams for my 2000 A4. my current mods are mti lid, hooker headers, dynomouth exhaust, free ram air . i have 3.73 waiting to go in for the 2.73. but the 2 cams are from mti and comp.
mti cam is the 224/581/114
comps cam is the xe275 222/224/566/568/112
which one would be better and give me raw power. i was also looking into the tr224/561/114. but im deciding between the mti and comp. thanks

Well as you can tell they are pretty similar cams with the mit one having higher lift, i'm really not shure what the diffrent lift specs will do for you but you should stay with a 114LSA on a a4 whatever you do. There is just to much info that I don't know about cams to help you pick the "best" cam for your needs. BTW: you should look into getting a stall before the cam.

Go with a Futural Motorsports cam, they seem to be making the best power these days

If you're not going to put in a stall, anything higher than a 220 may be problamatic for you ... particular if you get one with extreme ramp rates ...

I agree, the cam without a stall is not a good choice unless it is a small cam.
The stall and cam should be matched to perform the best.
They have not updated their site yet. I emailed them for cam info and this is what the sent me.

converter before gears. ... You'll get a lot more bang for the buck with even a mild 3200 stall than you would by going to 3:73s ...

Re: which cam for A4

my car went 12.2's full weight with stock gears, (3.23) and a vig 3,200, and bolt ons, mac mid length headers. Not to mention it would 60' in the low 1.6 range even on 17" nittos.

By the time you get done with a gear install and paying for the tuning, it's going to run you pretty close to $700.

You can pick up a Midwest or TCI converter in the $500 range. You and a couple of buddies can do a TC install in an afternoon ... gears are little more specialized - best left to pros or the very experienced.

Yeah, I have done both and can tell you the stall is much easier to install. There is more to remove but it is much less precise. I installed the stall in my former camaro in the parking lot at work by myself in about 6 hours. Good tc install guide here. Sorry to not answer your question about the cam, but I never did one of those so I don't have much feedback.

Oh yeah, I picked up my stall (Vig 3200) in the for sale section here for $425 shipped to me.
