First things first. Your friend is a moron and knows nothing about cars. That may seem a little harsh, but if you honestly think that a spec-v is even going to come close to an LS1 than that guy has no reason to be talking about cars period. Anyway, smoke his *** and then come back and I am sure there will be some posts on the proper mods for you.

LS1's are deep breathers. Anything to get more air into the engine and get it out faster is good.

The SSRA (super sucker ram air) is supposedly a real good setup, then get a lid (they are all pretty much the same hp wise, get one that u think looks good)

Dunno what your budget is but long tube heads and the rest of the exhaust is good too. Exhaust choices will get complicated so hold off just yet on that.

Also look up the "free mods" on the forum. I've seen 10 rwhp gained from those simple mods.

P.S Put your friend in his place...last place that is

LMFAO...is he going to bring Paul Walker and Vin for backup or what ? tell this guy to get real !

I wish I could be there when you OWN this guy . Sounds like a real moron . I had to wax some guy at work in one of those v-specs , he was trying to convince me he would whoop the lT1 and that he detroys mustangs for ****s and giggles . It was quite a hilarious exp. One very easy victory . You should have him put his money where his mouth is . 500 bucks , to the track . He has no chance at all .

94's V6's are turds and will not beat a GT mustang . No way . he is in a high 16 second car " stock " maybe a high 15 " 5 speed with good driver " But a GT would own him . If it was a slightly beefed 98+ v6 . I might buy it .

Holy crap that's one hell of a run-on sentence! I find it pretty funny that the only time you bothered to use a period was in the "p.s." LOL.

Just start with the bolt-ons and then go on to cam/heads/forced induction depending on your goals. Any catback and headers will work, find one that sounds good and fits your budget.

With a lid and MAF and a Ram air box all from SLP I spent around or under $500. You may find these parts on ebay used for a lot cheaper. Now with a Z06 intake your car should be up to 300RWHP & 310RWTQ Now with a set off headers (longtubes) and a nice cat-back system you should be up tp 330RWHP. Now if you run your longtubes with true duals you will be around 340-350RWHP. and a little PCM tunning will help good luck. all this should cost:
1. Lid new around$95
2.MAF 150-200
3.Ram air box 150
4.Z06 intake used on ebay 150-200
5.SLP LT New with y-pipe and cats 1300.00 used under 1k
6cat-back look around
7 or true duals under 500
8 equals 330-350 ponies to the wheels after that your car is on a rice only diet
