C5?
C5?
I just went to a local dealer (big dealer) and took a 99 C5 auto out for a "test drive". It was awesome and the guy gave me a ridicoulous deal on it. It had 48k miles on it, coupe, white, leather, active handling, etc... it had everything! Thay offered me 18,600 for my 00 SS Vert listed below. I'm really tempted, oh yea they made the vette 24,000 for the deal and gave 12 months/12000miles-GM warrenty on everything! But I gotta tell ya guys (and ladies), that car was no faster than my vert at all! Sure handled better, but not a lot. I think with some tuning it would scream. I'm really trying to talk myself out of it but it's a crazy deal and has a full warrenty for a year or a lot of miles. Are thay really not that fast compared to our TA/Z28's?
c5
the only thing corvette has on the camaro/ta's is independant suspension, and a hefty price tag. engine wise, z06 heads which you can buy for $1400. im sure im missing something (ls6 intake) but for the most part a few bucks with make the f-body soar past the vette. gm of course would never do this in fear it would have sank sales of their flagship. corvette has almost always been in car and drivers elite 10. makes me wonder where camaro/ta would sit if they werent so high strung on the vette. i like them both tho but f body all the way for me. besides, imagine the look on the driver of a c5's face when you wiz by him with a mod ss
C5's are awesome to mod. Only problem is, they're expensive as hell as far as aftermarket parts go. IMO, go with the Vette if you think you can afford it now and be a little more patient when it comes to modding it. It's about 300lbs lighter than our f-bodies, so it'll respond a little more to the mods you buy according to the hp to weight ratio made ever so famous by the ricer community.
I was astonished how much a cold air induction & exhaust system opened up my dad's '99. I say go for it.

I thot so
I thnought the reg Vette is a c5. Anyone know for sure? That car was sweet, but much complicated inside than my SS. I like the fairly straight forward "just stomp and shift car". The heads-up display was very cool though, I must say.
watch out for traction control if u go to do a burnout.... my buddy went to smoke em up in his TT c5
and traction control was on so it spun like a half a turn then bogged out and he was sooo embarresed cuz he is on stock tires and tt= insta smoke at 80mph if you dump it

A C5 is a 5th Gen. Covette, '97-'04.
A Z06 is still a C5.
Personally, I'd trade my car for nice C5 (Z06 or not) any day of the week. It's just a much nicer car, IMO...it's not much quicker than an F-body (if at all) but it is a better all-around car. However, I don't think I could give up my M6 for an A4 but that's just me. If the Vette was an M6, the deal would've already been done.
