buying new tranny, please read here...

Ok, changing shifter solenoids didn't work, so I'm going to have my tranny built by a local shop. As some of you may know I plan on EVENTUALLY pushing about 600+rwhp. Is there someone out there that can build a reliable 4L60E, and stand behind their work with some kind of warranty that will put up with this much power? I want to stay with the 4L60E for the OD factor. Do you think going with a local guy I personally don't know much about, but others are running similar setups to my current one, pulling 11.7's on Slicks and their trannies are still holding up. What do you guys think? Please post away. Thanks.

Pulling 11.7 on slicks isn't a really good test. I know a guy running 10.6xs on slicks with a stock 4l60e. I've been running low 12s for a year and a half with a stock 4l60e.
I'd look for a shop that has some 10 second cars running their build. And after the heads and cam this winter I'll probably be looking too

I've seen better experiences when dealing with local tranny shops.

Invariably when something goes wrong with a mailorder tranny it takes forever to get it fixed, much less warrantied. Often there's an effort to defend their work and lay the problem off on something/someone else ... When dealing with local shops. I've always seen them stand behind thier work

Pushing 11.7s on a 4l60e is no big deal ... I'm running 11.6s and over 450 passes on my stock tranny ... But 600rwhp is another matter ... if you are going to push that much, you want to look into something else ... if you are focused on streetablity and keeping your OD, you might want to consider a 200r4 ... But it'll be pricey. A full conversion can run you around $4000 ...

450 passes. That's right where I'm at. But the first 300 were pre converter
