Post buying a LS1 , plz HELP!

im really in need of some help, i have a couple questions about ls1s.
i currently own a 1997 grand prix gtp and its not quite fast enough for me! i want something that has a lot of power right outta the box. ive found a red 1998 z28 for 10,900 with 84,000 miles. is this alot for a ls1 with this many miles, or is it a good deal? are the ls1 motors reliable past 80,000 miles? heres the vin on the car

its red with black racing stripes, any help is appreciated, thanks alot!
also, which is faster, a auto or manual and which has more potential?

Personally, I would never buy a used car with that many miles. The price isn't bad, I think that's about average from what I've seen.
Reliability of an LS1 past 80k miles? I dunno.
Racing stripes tell me that there a decent chance that the previous owner "beat" on the car, I could be wrong though. Is there anything else done to the car?
Worst case, he had a bunch of mods and then just took them off when he sold/traded the car. I know plenty of people that have done that so that's why I didn't buy a used F-body. You just never know when you're buying a used car...

Oh, A4 vs M6. Stock vs. stock the A4 should be quicker(ET) and the M6 should be faster(trap speed) but that isn't always the case.
Basically: A4 = better traction = better ET.
M6 = more RWHP = higher trap speed. Like I said though, not always.

If you want a quicker car then go with an A4. If you want a faster car then go with an M6. Sounds kinda stupid but that's the way I see it. I personally like trap speed more than ET.

Personally I would go for a 99' or newer , I did only because GM sorted out a few problems with the motor from 98 to 99 and beyond. I have a late year build 99 and its great not one problem. Go with an M6 much more fun , how true sports car should be.

i bought my 98 used with 65k miles on it for 12k and haven't had any problems yet.(knock on wood)i would suggest getting a warranty with it ,most dealers have them.a4 vs m6= depends all on you.mine is a a4 and i ran 13.5 on street tires and it was my first time at the track.i beat most m6's i raced.so a4 aren't that much slower.i guess it depends on the driver. but check into getting a warranty and keep looking around, maybe you'll find a better deal
