Buy Pacesetter or QTP headers?

Who has the pacesetter headers installed? I'm almost sold on them because of the amazing price. Anybody recommend against getting them? I like the looks of the QTP headers, but would they be worth the money? Do you think they would make a whole lot more horsepower than the pacesetters would?

if you have more money than you know wut to do with, QTP are decent headers but if your like me and wanna spend the 700 you save on something else then pacesetter is for you.

BTW- i have them installed and they gave me a HUGE improvement over stock

You get what you pay for. If you've got the money, no doubt get the QTPs, they're among the best. If you don't have the money, get the Pacesetters.

I jumped in between both brands price-wise and bought Jet-Hots off a group purcahse. They're not expensive like FLP, Kooks, QTP, or PPC, but they're not cheap like Pacesetters. I guess I'm just a run-of-the-mill cheapass, but not hardcore.

No flame intended, but do you have any information to back up the statement "you get what you pay for" with this product? I too am buying headers very soon, and am torn between the Jet-Hots and the Pacesetters. I have done a lot of reading and generally tailwindxr7, I would agree with you. The one thing that has me still considering these headers is that I have not read any bad feedback about these headers that has not been addressed or fixed by the manufacturer. I have read the same amount of gripes about the Jet-Hots if not more. Granted those problems are all addressed by the manufacturer. It seems like the Pacesetters are making good power equal to all of the other "budget" headers. Again, no flame intended, just trying to bring a perspective to the discussion.

most people think that because we have been raped in the past for LT headers that the Pacesetters must be cheap.

Well, unfortunatelly the headers will have to wait till after winter. There's really no point in putting them on now only to have the winter jack them all up with the salt. The pacesetters seem to have pretty good ratings by everyone I've seen on here, so most likely I'll get those. The QTP's just look sweet and they have me convinced from their website that they have a very good product. The only thing that gets me is the darn price and nobody on here who has them, telling me that they are worth it.

Pacesetters come bare, right? How much would they cost with a full coating inside and out of the headers and the Y-pipe? What about with cats thrown into the mix, and all the stuff needed for the install?

That's my point...you get what you pay for. Personally I don't think FLPs are worth $1,200 or PPCs $1,500, but I also don't think Pacesetters are the bargain most people here are making them out to be.

I myself went with Jet-Hots. I got fully coated headers and a catted Y shipped to my door for $898. That's a real bargain, IMO.

Well...

...for $330 you can get the headers coated. The price under $300 is bare. At $330 they are still almost $200 less than Jet-Hots. Believe me, I have been trying to convince myself that the Pacesetters are not all they are cracked up to be, but I just havent been able to find anything to support that belief.

My understanding is you get what you pay for in terms of quality. Granted, both the Pacesetters and QTP headers are going to give you a decent hp gain. But, what really is being questioned is what kind of condition the headers will be in 4~5 years down the road. If you go with a Jet-Hot or Pacesetter header, don't be surprised if/when the coating flakes off and the headers start to rust. QTP on the other hand, is made of stainless steel which, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't rust. Personally, if I had the money and planned on keeping the car for more than 3 years, I'd go with the better headers. You'll be happier in the long run.

I doubt you included the price of a coated catted Y-pipe in your post. Like I said earlier, the Jet-Hot headers and the catted Y-pipe were $898 shipped to my door. Not a cent more.

Take the Pacesetters and a pipe, add coating and shipping, and all things required for a full installation, and you might not have such a good deal on your hands, especially for something that might not be of great quality compared to a more expensive header.

I'm not trying to bash them, but I'm just not convinced.

I didnt include the price of a catted Y-pipe, you are right. I am buying headers and headers only whether I go with Jet-Hot, QTP, SLP, or Pacesetter. I am going true dual, no cats, and X-pipe. I am getting the headers installed for $150, and then I will have the cost of the exhaust. I dont disagree with you at all, and I am desperately trying to see the benefit of spending $200 more for even the Jet-Hots. I may still go Jet-Hot, but right now I am still leaning toward coated Pacesetters for $330.
