Busted my rear...
Out driving tonight, and my rear diff started making that nasty thumping sound like it did once before, when I had busted a tooth off one of the gars. D'oh! Fortunately, although it's never a *good* time for something like this to break, this is about the best time it could have, since I was going to swap out the rear diff for higher gears (3.42s or 3.73s) for when I get my SC installed later this month.
Here's my question, though... what rear diff setup can I have installed that can take the abuse that a supercharger will put on it? I can't afford to keep buying new gears for it every year like the trend seems to be right now.
Thanks,
Hot Pastrami

To my knowledge there really isn't much of a way to strengthen the rear end with gears other then having them chryogenically [sp?] frozen. I'm not actually sure if that helps, but I've heard it does. Maybe a girdle cover?
Although, if you're switching to a SC, you almost have to go to a 12-bolt if you want longevity for drag racing.
You could go with a 8.5 inch 10-bolt [yours is 7.5"], but I'm not aware of any that are made for your car that would not include a lot of prep work. And the money from that work would probably be better spent on a 12-bolt anyway.
Just my $.02. Someone probably has a little more info then I do though.
