new guy. I have a 99 formula firebird w 45000m on it and no mods. The question when i am on the freeway doing 100mph or in that speed range i push the break and the wheel will start to shake it does this at all speeds when the breakes get alittle hot i put in new pads but did not machine the rotors the car stops ok but i just dont like the shake of the wheel what do you think it is thank... new guy

my guess is that your rotors are warped...mine are too on my '02 z28 and the steering wheel shakes when i brake...especially after i've driven a while. as far as i know, getting your rotors turned should solve the problem.

Ya.. It's the Rotors, I had the same problem, and I slapped on some Hawk Pads and X-Drilled Slotted StopTech's.. now it stops smoother then my baby-like bottom.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your rotors are f*cked. If they're warped like mine were than 'turning' them won't fix the 'brake shake'. Re-surfacing the rotors just makes the surface nice and smooth but they will still be warped. Whatever you do don't buy stock replacements (they'll just warp again), get some good aftermarket ones. Hawk pads are a nice compliment too.

Yep, you need some new rotors. You can turn them, but they will warp again if you warped your first set. Rotor will not warp of you brake conservatively.

Some good rotors to look at would be Aimco rotors avaliable at Autozone for $38 each for the front, and I think $60 for each rear. They are slightly less resistant to warping that stocks. I got a set of Sure Stop cross-drilled and slotted rotors when I figured out all of my rotors were warped. They look really good and haven't warped yet even after really hard braking.

Look on Speed Inc's site for a wide selection or rotors.

That's what I'm talking about! they're alittle pricey, but they won't warp as fast...

You like em???..... I love mine, first couple of weeks though they chew up your pads from the sharp machining. The look pretty good too, except I wish I had different wheels so I can see more of the holes. And they don't rust!!
