Arrow Brake Rotors

I have several questions. So here goes:

1. What are some good, cheap, aftermarket rotors for the LS1?

2. Do slotted rotors (ie Powerslot, etc) really make that *snick snick* sound when coming to a stop?

3. What are the best pads (brand?) to use on Cross-drilled rotors?

On my last car (91' Honda CRX Si), i changed all 4 rotors (yes it had 4-wheel disc) to PowerStop Cross-drilled. I weighed the stock rotors and the total combined weight was about 80 lbs. The PowerStop rotors weighed only 65 lbs. The only problem with these brakes was that they had that ugly goldish color all the time. I HATE THAT.

4. Which aftermarket rotors (the cheap ones), are lighter than stock?
AND do NOT have that gold color?

Thanks for your help.

-Jeff

I just put Autozone rotors and pads on the front last week because they were warped BAD. And man what a difference. Its only been a week, but hopefully they wont warp. But i'm happy with them so far.
I dont know if they weigh more than stock, but they felt the same to me.

Eradispeeds are the only ones that will be lighter than stock, and they are NOT cheap.

The EBC's seem like the best deal in drilled/slotted rotors, and oif course AZ's are the best bargain of all.

I would typically not recommend a drilled only rotor for street use. They do not wear as well as slotted or drilled & slotted.

These PPC rotors are stress relieved and pre-seasoned before you get them. They are available plain or drilled & slotted.

These rotors work great for hi-po street and for road racing. They make an awesome dual-duty rotor.

I have found that a carbon based pad works the best for overall dual-duty and rotor life.

I replaced my front pads and rotors last weekend with autozone, and the rotors were $38.99 each, and pads were $39.99.

Question

Autozone seem to be the the rotor of choice for value for money. We don't have Autozone in Canada does anybody know who makes their rotors or if they can be purchased under a different brand name?

Albany is the manufacturer that supplies Auto Zone with their regular brake rotors and pads.

Actually Aimco makes the rotor for an ls1 F-body that AutoZone sells.

AutoZone rotors are great, but avoid the Albany brand pads. They squeal and have so much brake dust it makes your wheels nasty after only a day of driving. (I found out the hard way)

There's another set of pads that is only a few bucks more ... wishing I had gotten those instead.

But, I've always been happy with the AZ Rotors.

Cross-Drilled or Slotted rotors are just for looks.

Nobody has mentioned KVR yet. Probably not any lighter than stock but they are less prone to warping. There's a link in my sig.
