Brake pads for front brakes of my LS1.

My brakes are squeaking on my car right now. I got some "high performance" Reybestos pads about a month ago, and have been a high pitch squeal ever since. And it sucks cuz at school everyone looks at me and stuff. Anyway, anyone know if I can put some squeal stop goop on the back of the pads or what if I put on some "closer to stock" pads. I think the stock ones are AC Delco. Any opinons are appreciated.

first try some grease or anti squeak stuff on the back of the pads where metal meets metal. but my next question is did you have your rotors turned when you did this and did you inspect the rotors for needing to be turned?

If your rotors get real glassy looking and smooth you can rub them with some 100 or 60 grit sandpaper. Do it all over both sides of the rotors evenly. Just take off some of the glaze. Don't have to do much. That should get rid of the squeak. Later>>>>>>>

Time for the "blue goo". I make it a habit to always slap a little of that stuff on before putting everything back together.

Also, FWIW, I have always had good results from the AutoZone pads and rotors (yes, the cheap ones)

Nice and quiet and they haven't failed me yet.

Lightbulb Hmm ...

Everything I have heard pointed to the OEM pads as being really, really good.

As a matter of fact, I bought some 800 mile old used ones (guy upgraded rotors & calipers and a local hot rod shop , and I got 'em ) for $ 35.00 as a just in case when I changed my rotors.

Turned out that w/ 42K on the clock, I still had 2/3 of the pad life left !!

I must drive pretty mellow - NOT !!

Wow, Im gonna have to check out the stock pads. Arent they AC Delco ones? ANyway, yes I did have my rotors turned when I got the HP pads in em, and had them turned again when I got my new HP pads in em the 2nd time, but its still squeaking. Ill try that goo stuff, and sand em down. Should I sand down the pad a bit as well?

Yes the stock AC Delco stock pads last a long time. Cost more but last long. If they brake good enough for your driving that is all that matters.

You should not have to hit the rotors with sand paper if they were turned. That is just a way to get rid of squeak when they are well used and real slick/glassy. You should not have to sand the pads ever. Sounds like the pads you are using is what is causing the squeal. Good Luck! Later>>>>>
