Bought a new TCI Stall and the torque converter bolts that came with it are to big

I am putting on my new TCI torque converter and the new bolts that came with it are to dam big, they are bigger than the stock bolts. I can't believe that they send you bigger bolts than the stock ones. I don't wanna reuse my stock hex bolts, those hex bolts really sucks..where can i find some new torque converter bolts? ive checked a few hardware stores and the bolts i find are not the same length as the stock ones..any other places where I can get some new bolts?

Don't trust hardware store bolts. Get grade 8 bolts at an industrial bolt supplier. Look under "fasterners-industrial" in phone book. Buy US made bolts.

The bolts that came with my TCI converter are to big. They won't fit through the flex plate hole. I bought some new ones from the hardware store with the same size and still they won't fit. The ones I have bought are to small now. Does anyone know what is the size of the bolt I need for my TCI Torque converter? What bolts do you guys use? I don't wanna reuse my stock allen bolts, those suck..

I agree with angel.. Get stronger stuff, not from hardware store..

If those bolts break due to stress, you're ****ed.

The bolts that TCI sends with their converters are quite a bit stronger than the factory ones. However, they do require that you drill the flexplate out to accomodate the larger bolts. It won't hurt anything at all; we do it all of the time for converter installs. They will thread straight into the converter with no problems whatsoever. There is only one bolt hole on the flexplate that will need to be opened up. The other two should work as is.

I dont want to jump your post, but i got about 6 hours into an install and stripped out my third allenhead TC bolt! Im in the military and only home for the weekend and was afraid to use any heat method to get it off and ended up having to put everything back together, like a dog with its tail between its legs! I called a shop and they quoted $350 so my questions are is that a good deal and will the stock bolts work with a Midwest 3600 stall because i didnt get any TC bolts!!!!

can you use 2 of the tci bolts and 1 stock bolt to keep from having to drill?
