I would just keep the flowmaster. Most people go with the lid, I am not sure of the differences in gains between the different intakes though.

might as well keep the flowmaster if you are happy with the sound. and for some added power just spend $50 and have a cutout welded into the Ipipe before the axle, that way you can bypass the muffler when desired or when racing.

for intake, forget the bellows..waste of money. i would suggest the following for a VERY solid gain

TSP lid, Austin ram air, and a hiflow filter of your choice

these combined with a cutout should net you a solid 20hp gain

Any lid (KN or some other High performance filter) will do just fine, they all will give pretty much the same HP. FIBK works also but to much money for it, you can get An ASP pulley , lid and filter and a fernco hose for the price of an FIBK , But personally if your car is an A4 I would put a TCI 3500 Stall converter in it or other brand, best mod for us automatic guys, If its an M6, 410 gears will wake that car right up.

Yup! Most likely the least expensive mod to provide considerable hp gains.

AVOID the FILTER FRENZY.. OMG.. K&N, Holley, Accel, and Amsoil all make aftermarket "rechargeable" filters. The stock AC Delco Paper filter out flows them. Fact. I proved it to myself on the dyno. 2x's! On different days. Ran the same test. Same conclusion. I found I get 3rwhp consistantly with my paper filter over aftermarket ones. 3rwhp showing up over and over tells me that its not a fluke and that its more akeen to 5hp or so at the crank.

The simple logic is: if its "FILTERS" better, how could it "FLOW" more? I would understand a larger surface area, but barring the Stealth Lid, the surface area is the same.

As for lids.... heheh A LID IS A LID IS A LID. I dont see any one giving you any more power over any other lid. The FIPK I have not tested and am looking for someone local that will let me install it and test it on the dyno so I can see once and for all.

when i bought my 99ss i thought the flowmaster was decent for the time being. I always heard about the whole lid craze, but i played it cheap. I bought a direct-flo lid. All i can say was WOW, what a difference. I am using the stock paper filter and the previous owner did the FRA. Eventually I'll get a better flowing exhaust.

there are a few companies out there that sell lids for around 75-85 bucks id just get one of those...if you have an auto get a 3500-4200 stall converter depending on your tolerance of a high stall converter and then some long tubes...pacesetter coated long tubes and ypipe go for about $500 right now through tsp and its a fairly simple bolt on just time consuming but worth about 20-30 hp at the wheels so well worth it...those 3 mods should get an auto deep into the 12's with traction.

Don't forget about suspension, that's just as important too.

SFC's along with a STB will do wonders.

Also a sticky set of rubber if you don't already have it.
