Bought a 98 SS
Bought a 98 SS
Where are the points?
Sorry, I usually hang out in the Classic section.
I had been thinking of buying a C4 Corvette for daily driver duty, but I've always liked the LS1 F bods. When I ran across this SS on the net, I forgot about getting the C4.
46,xxx, M6, leather, T tops, etc, for 10.5K. But I had to pay $800 to have it shipped out here.
But it's tough to find an unmolested LS1 out here, so....
Really like the way the car feels. I know they aren't luxo interior type vehicles, but they are an excellent performance value. The LS1 is an amazing engine.
I've already made good use of the Search function here and on LS1 boards. Lots of good info.
One thing that I have to bypass is the clutch switch. I've never liked the idea of having to start a car with the clutch pedal pushed in; I've seen what can happen to thrust flanges. Anyone know if it's a normally open or normally closed switch? If NO, I'll probably just jumper it.
Here are a couple of pics from pickup day at the shipper's drop off point. Kind of dirty from the trip. It made it just in time; monster thunder storms rolled through Texas that night.

Nice looking car!
Man, 46000 miles for a 6-year-old car?!.........that's pretty low!
I think you made a good choice picking the LS1 over a C4 'Vette. The Corvettes are nice and all, but I drove a '91 'Vette, and while its handling was pretty tight, I'd take my '02 Z28 over that car any day of the week
. The LS1 has so much more potential over the LT1 with so little work, and even stock they're a beast!
Congrat's on your new ride...........I guess we'll be seeing you in here a little more often now?

I also know that my 71 would be worth a lot more if I had left it like I bought it.
I especially regret tossing the A/C.
Time will tell how hard the fever hits.
When the "bug" hits, just do what I've done.........keep all the original parts that you pull off the car so you COULD put it back to original IF you wanted to
........
.........but I doubt that will ever happen!!
