Post Black Color Okay for Florida?

Hey

Does anyone here have a dark colored Camaro (specifically black) in a warm climate? The black is great looking--but is it too dark for northern Florida (Jacksonville)? I've heard both opposite answers. Would getting neutral seats offset the problem?

Thanks for the help!

I have black in Houston, Tx. It is hot as hell. Takes the AC forever to cool it down, and black shows every little imperfection.

But at night, with the t-tops off I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have a black 98 Z and a dark blue metallic 99 SS and both are still in real good shape. The first thing we did on both cars was get the darkest legal window tinting possible. Plus we got the t-top screens for the SS. Another good thing to get would be to get a foldable windshield sunscreen. These things really help here in Orlando. We try to keep up with the wax on the exterior but the factory clear coat really helps to protect the paint. No noticable fading yet on either car.

My car is black with black leather and I live in south Florida. I dont usually find it to be a problem unless the car has been sitting in direct sunlight for a long period of time. I love black its just that if I wash it on Monday come Wednesday it looks dirty again. Just remember that black is a tough color to keep clean.

I've got black w/black leather. I'm down in Tampa and it does get hot. It really helps putting in the T-top shades. It has helped a lot parking under a car port with the cleaning issue. Also, get some good tint! I don't care where you live, looks sweet, not to mention some privacy...

well, xcept i live in <
yea black is HARD to keep clean.
i swear i wiped it with a car duster thing, by the time i wiped the back the front already had some dust on it.
in the 100 degree heat it kinda sux with black leather seats, "But at night, with the t-tops off I wouldn't trade it for the world."

o and when im driving in the city, which is basically all i do, i never turn on the AC when im by myself, cuz i dont wanna "stress" my black car in the 100 degree heat.
i can handle the heat.

IMO nothing looks NICER than a CLEAN BLACK CAR.

Thumbs up

I have a Black SS with Black Leather interior in Dallas, TX, and I like it. Yes, it is a pain to keep clean because everything shows up. Also, it can get somewhat warm when sitting in the hot sun all day, but the T-Tops shades, tinted windows, and a reflective windshield shade help a lot to keep it cool. It can be a pain from time to time, but at night (or anytime, for that matter) cruising around with the t-tops off when it's clean (or at least looks that way) I wouldn't trade it for anything!
