Check out the ls1tech.com sponsors, like Futral motorsports or something, they can definitely build you that motor. You're gonna need a helluvalotta spray to run 8s though!

Re: big inch ls-1

big power is not all it take to hit 8's, there is a lot to getting that power to the ground.
not knocking your idea just be ready to spend LOTS and LOTS of money. the c5r block alone will run you an easy $3000-4000 (maybe more) before any work is even done to it, c5r heads are about $2200.00 a set bare, custom intake manifold will have to be made probably by Kinsler. as I say it is a great idea just very expensive.

I would consider a 408ci iron block setup built to the hilt with some killer stage 3 heads and a huge *** custom cam and hit it with a 300-400 shot of N2O on a dual stage direct port setup. get you about 1100fwhp. still not cheap but less expensive that the c5r route. get the car in the les than 3000 lb area and add some killer suspension and 8's are possible. we plan to hit 8's in this car http://www.ffhp.net/ffhp_project_cars.htm

Re: big inch ls-1

I'd have to go with Futral Motorsports or AP enginering for a project of that size. Futral has street driven 408's in the 560 rwhp range with iron blocks and LS-6 heads. Deffinatlly cheaper than the C5-R. C5-R block alone is $6,000. You also have to add in the countless amounts of suspension work it will take to run 8's. Hope you have all this figured into the budget.

Re: big inch ls-1

There have many f-bods going 8's with less than 850 RWHP. Futral, HPE or Combination Motorsports could easily build you a solid roller 408"-436" that would make 550-600 RWHP on motor. With the right combination of forged internals you could spray 350-400 on top of that. 900 RWHP is within reason. 8's are not as big of a hurdle as they used to be.

Like stated above though it just takes money.

Re: big inch ls-1

Give us a call! We can get you this combo. Wether it's just the engine or the complete car. We can do all of it. We have built and maintained Fstr-Thanu's (LS1tech screen name) car for over 3 years. The car always runs bottm 9's @ 150mph. Go to our website and you can check out vid's of this car. ( www.automotiveperformance.net ) If high 8's are what you are looking for we know how to get there.

Thanks,
Chris

Not out of the question just as stated by others cost a little bit of coin. HPE here in Houston can handle that they are an ls1tech sponsor and check out samracing.com the have a 680 rwhp ls1 block and heads running 9.3's . Key there N/A which will cost but you gotta pay to play!
