Best way to 400RwHP????

My buddy just put down 394 at the wheels on his 96 cobra and I just cant be having that. So I was wondering what mods would put me to 400RWHP with out a power adder or touching the heads. I am installing a MTI c1 cam right now 222/222 .558 112LSA I fuiger that will bump me up from 334 to about 365. Most likely over the winter I will be adding LS6 intake, ASP pully and a ported throttle body.Any thing else you guys can think of?????

With that cam, you should be at or over 400rwhp. You may need a tuneup if you don't. With a good tune and all the bolt ons, 360rwhp is not hard to achieve with an M6.

get a bigger cam and you'll be over 400hp.

something in the rhelm of 224* should do it.

Good tune and the LS6 intake should put you in the 370-380 rwhp range. The Pulley and the throttle body won't add very much in terms of rwhp. It will more or less be a drivers race after that...

If you had an auto, all you would need along with those mods is a torque convertor with a good stall and some drag radials and he'll be seeing your taillights.

I know you dont want to touch the heads but you can run a less aggresive cam retain some drivability by doing heads and cam together. The patriat ls6 heads with a mild cam should make 400rwhp; with dyno tunnig of course.
if you want to stay cam only the cam you have is to small for those hp Numbers I would bump it up a little bit and think about doing those bolt ons as well.

Thanks Chris

www.ls1speed.com[I would love to get a set of heads but i dont tink my budget can afford them now or any time soon. But maybe I can save up over winter and spring. The only other problem with my buddy is that he dosent plan on staying at those #s either. He has some weird "chemical boost cooler" that uses methonal going on and some other stuff. But I guess if my N/A car can keep up with his supercharged car thats pretty damn good.
Thanks for the input guys

Yeah but it's a way to make sure the car is running it's best for the given mods. Too many variables at the track to decide if the engine is in top tune.

A buddy of mine with an 02 1LE SS made 387 with cam and long tubes only. I forgot what cam he had though. The cam you are looking at seems pretty small for an LS1 though.

Heck there's just as many variables at the dyno.

My car has to be my daily driver (except for winter) so I need it to be very streetable. I also dont have the $$ to get the car tuned right away. Any one know if APE gives a deal on a return dyno tune?

A bad driver won't mess up a dyno run though.

Re: Best way to 400RwHP????

Very true. A guy with one of those 454SS pickups with a mild cam and bolt ons got his truck dynoed, and made something around 280rwhp at around 4800rpm, but only 320lb's of torque. Turns out the dyno operator who only knew rice burners started the pull at around 3500rpm... I've never heard of something that stupid, but I guess it's possible if the operator doesn't know engines.
