The Best Sway Bars?
The Best Sway Bars?
I want to put sway bars on the 01 Z but I am not sure about certain things. What would be the best brand? Hollow VS Solid? And what size. I did a search and after sifting through tons of material I have found myself more confused than when I started. Also I have seen some arguments over not doing both front and rear. Some say only front, some say only rear, and some say both. What Advantage and difference in handling would I see?Any recommendation’s would be great. Thanks in advance.
EDIT I also have a TC and 373 Question HERE

I think for the money it's hard to beat the BMR sway bars, I have them on the front and rear. No matter which brand you get I would also get the poly end link kits for the front and rear sway bars. Good luck with your choice.

I have the RKSport,35MM/25MM solid bars on my 2001 Z28, coupled with poly D bushings and poly end links. It made quite a difference in the way the vehicle handled.

thickness:
bars of the same thickness, the solid will be stiffer. from what most say, a solid 32mm bar is the same as a hollow 34mm bar. it equates to about 2mm thicker for the same stiffness
size:
from what i was told, a REALLY stiff front bar and a stock rear are good for TIGHT corners like autoX. in which you want more control over the car with the throttle. but for everyday driving and normal "curvy roads" a moderate front and rear will be better, say a 32/21 solid
that being said. i bought the BMR 32/21mm solid bars and saw a HUGE improvement on my cars ability to take curves. this is for normal street use mind you.
and for about $300 you get the bars (choice of color), the poly bushings and thicker poly end links.
tough to beat

love my solid 35 mm up front, and stock 19 mm out back.
With the roll control, you keep the front tires more square to the road, so you actually gain grip up front.. plus turn in feels much nicer.
that and better shocks made a world of a difference.. Then a T2R made it even more fun powering out of turns.

If you want handling then BMR's are excellent. If your looking for a killer drag racing sway bar. You cannot beat the Wolfe Racecraft Drag Sway Bar. I don't even run a front sway bar. But my car is a street/strip drag racer only.
Check out my Cardomain site listed in my sig. I have a pic of it installed on my Moser 12 bolt. It keeps the car very predictable at the dragstrip. Hardcore drag racing only. The car will have zero sway.
