Best short throw??
I have a 99 Z m6 and I wnted to get short throw in it. I have heard a lot of good things about the pro 5.0. Is this the best one? Also where can I get it for the cheapest and how much will it be???THanks guys!!!
i had the 5.0 and hated it...it rattled and came loose on me....i went with the bm ripper and have been soooooo much happier...no noise and smooth shifts and doesnt come loose...do a search on this....because this topic comes up at least every 2 weeks
I've been running my B&M Ripper for only a short time but I really like it but you should really only listen to the guys (and gals) who've driven both. I read most of the posts before I bought mine and I came to the unscientific conclusion that the B&M was the better buy. Plus a friend of mine had one in his Mustang and he really liked it (the shifter not the Mustang). 1 vote for B&M.
You can't go wrong with either one (B&M or Pro 5.0). The Pro 5.0 is noisier than stock or the B&M and yes the bolts (that hold the handle) will loosen over time but thread locker will fix that. The B&M is "smoother" too...but the one thing that I love about the Pro 5.0 is that you almost have to try to miss a gear. I have only missed a gear twice (that I can recall) out of probably 300-400 hard shifts. If you race, go with the Pro 5.0 but if you just want a better shifter than stock, go with the B&M.
I agree, do a search and you'll get plenty of opinions.

Ok, Ramchargers has it for $165. Maybe Dave (Phantom TA) can hook up you up...I'm pretty sure he works there.

The cheapest I've seen the B&M is I think $155. I belive it was on one of the vendor sites that are advertised on this forum.
Summit and Jegs have parts that tend to be overpriced compared to an all F-Body company. But they also have a boatload more stuff overall, but very little for the F-bodies.

i have a few q's myself beyond 'which is better'
the pro 5.0 is a straight stick while the ripper is bent back right?
and which has a more mechanical ratchety feel to it? i like that in any interface with the car, easy but mechanical feeling power steering, and throttle that is notable connected to blade by a squeeky wire
my 99 f-bod doesnt really have any of that unfortunately but i'm always comparing cars to the old jeep i grew up on
the t/a does haul *** however
so which has a more ratchety mechanical feel to it? i'm guessing the 5.0, but also the ripper just not as much
i'm leaning toward getting the ripper myself
