Question Best Headers

Alrighty fellas I need to get the best all around headers for a 02 ss. I have read a lot of posts talking about long tubes and short tubes etc. I already know long tubes are the way to go. Please those of you that have long tubes gimme some pro's and cons of your headers. Price is no objest give or take. But i wouldn't mind being able to change plugs with out being a heart surgeon. The engine is bone stock and this is the last bolt on i need to have finished the whole bolt on game. Oh and its a T56 car so I'm not to concerned with a perfect band.

Any feedback apreciated.
Thanks Mike

( down the page a bit )

I have the SLP because I wanted a kit that had
everything included.. headers,cats,y-pipe,
extenders.. very high quality.

dont do SLP if your lowered.. they hang a bit
lower than the others.. I never drag them
but others have.

Hookers seem to be the best bang for the buck, and Jet Hot has specials on them all the time. If you are wanting cats then go with FLP or TTS headers. Either one of those will run about $1300 for the headers, y-pipe, cats, and off road pipes. I have a set of TTS headers going on this weekend and will be getting my car dynoed later this month. I will let everyone know what I think.

The only drawback to LT headers is ground clearance. They hand down lower than mid lenght and shorties. Some people also have problems with the cats or y-pipe banging under the car. There are ways to fix this though. True duals are starting to become popular. A lot of people are getting hookers, a Dr. Gas X-pipe, and a pair of Dynomax bullet mufflers. True duals sound great, but again you will have some more clearance problems. Hope this helps some.

If you can find a set of TPIS, I recommend them. I don't have access to a dyno over here, but the fitment is perfect, and they really wake up the exhaust... I could really feel a difference once they were on.

I have the SLP's and Love them. Yes they do hang alittle low, but by far the best quality header and best Y pipe. Not to mention, the gobs of torque they produce.

I posted a thread similar to this not too long ago and from what I heard it was down to FLP, SLP and Hookers. Although I must say I've heard Hookers are better than the rest by most people I've talked to. They give you the most bang for your buck. Although, I do like the SLP loudmouth system too. But, if I get headers on my car after the warranty runs out I've decided on Hookers.

Grotts are the best headers hands down. They produce the most power out of any LT header. For a stock engine you can get the 1 3/8's primaries & for a heads/cam car 1 7/8's. A new sponser on another board has gone straight to the source so you can actually get them & they're making a real good y-pipe to go with it. On a lowered car FLP's are the way to go. Supposedly Hookers tuck up well but I have yet to see them. SLP's are the worst, I had them on my 2001 SS & was not hapy with them at all.

Hookers are the best with ground clearance and installation.

well there are alot of factors that go into this. if you are in an e-testing state, then im going to strongly recommend either FLP or TTS. if not, consider the above as well as grotts (if they cna be found) and hookers. the hookers from jet-hot are a great deal and they are caoted inside and out, which is a nice additive. stay away from the SLP headers at all cost. sure, youre going to have some people say they are great and whatnot, but i have by far the most complaints about SLP's. not to mention they leave you with very little ground clearance. good luck in your decision.
