We all Pacesetter Basically Owns the Header Department for ther Budget Longtubes, What is the best bang for your buck heads/cam? Also is it worth just caming your ride or is it better to just save up and do them both together. Whats the Take on the Ls1 Hot cam deal in Summit? Thanks

 

there is no such thing as "best head/cam setup for the money"....


WAY to many variables when you consider streetabiltity, driveability and cost.

what kind of power do you want to make...and we'll tell you the best route.

if you want 400rwhp...and near stock street manners...the best way to get it is a mild cam like the 224 and a set of budget heads.

if you want 400rwhp at the lowest cost...a healthy cam is all you need (and boltons of course). something like the FM14 or the TSP torquer would do the trick.

if you want 450rwhp and good street manners you'll have to take it a step farther and do a little of both. a decent size cam, good heads and probably the FAST 90/90 wouldn't be a bad investment at that point.

you could sacrifice some street manners and do a bigger cam and make probably 475rwhp...but it would probably be very friendly on the street

 

thanks for the reply! My car is slowly turning into a weekend warrior and not my daily driver, so im probaly intrested in building up my car a little more on the aggresive side. I was thinking more around the lines of a strong cam and some budget heads for now cause I need to have some $$$ left over to have some suspension work done before I start putting down much more horsepower. But any ways I just need some direction on a good cam and some heads with my mods in my Sig. Whats the take on used heads off the board?

Ps Why is speed so addicting? I spend 1000.00 bucks on my car and tell myself im not gonna spend money again on it for a few months and 3 days later im looking for more **** to put on it!!!

 

Budget setups make budget power.

Spending an extra $1000 and going with a less driveable cam is worth the extra 40-50 rwhp IMO.

Something like the Trickflow 215cc or AFR 225cc heads along with a Futral Motorsports F-14 or F-15 and FAST 90/90 will get you where you want to be.

 

Do some suspension work before you hit up a head/cam combo it will make all that power worth it. Plan on spending a couple of grand and don't skimp my saying with my friends is do it the way you want the first time so you don't have to go back and do it again because you where too cheap the first time. And don't forget to throw a tune into the equation.

i hear what you're saying Kreast...but doing the budget heads now will make pretty reasonable power, and will hold him over till he gets the rest of the car built up for more power.

not all of us can afford insane build ups like yours all at once.

besides, he can always sell the heads later in place of better ones.
