if you have no emission standards where you live, or if you arn't using the car on the street, then don't use the cats. They're only there to make the car legal.

No emission checks here... been running open cutout 24/7 for months with no trouble. I am worried about high rasp, is that a problem with the dual/dual?

The only rasp will come from either loudmouth or rumbler. I'd say get borla but you may not have the $$. I've heard GMMG with LTs before too and it sounded great. I think that's expensive too though. You get what you pay for though. I'd ditch the cats either way.

corsa with LT's and no cats (or with cats) sounds awesome. Pretty quiet at idle but very loud up in the RPMs, and no rasp.

If you get headers, why not get true duals? It's the best setup you can possibly get for headers.

regardless of if you have "real power" true duals are the way to go, IF you get headers. At least you'll never have to come back to your catback when it invariably becomes the weak link in your system.

Re: Best Cat-Back for LT headers???

True duals or a Mufflex. People like to brag about the GMMG but its still only 3" pipe which is a mere .25" larger than stock and costs as much a duals. Mufflex comes in 3.5 and 4", single or dual outlet w/a Spintech or Blowmaster Muffler. The spintech sounds and performs great.
Bassani has a true dual catback (that goes out the back) for stock manifolds that I'm sure cold be adapted to headers. Lanes and Texas Speed both have dumped duals for headers. Absolutly NOTHING sounds and performs like duals. Do a search in here for the Bassani dual. Even if you don't get theirs, the dynos show how well LS1's like duals compared to a 3" catback.

You could also get a custom system bent. Mandrel is the big thing now, but in reality it only gets you a couple HP over pressure bent systems.

Duals dont cost all that much actually, you could get a good setup and have it installed for under 300.

Re: Best Cat-Back for LT headers???

i have the bassasni tru-duals on both cars. just had to do some minor modifying to the front of the x-pipe to get it to fit the wife's 99 formula with headers. click the links in the sig for pics and dyno results of the system on both cars.

here's the dyno result on the wife's car comparing the borla vs the bassani
