Best Cat Back?

hey ive been lookn all over but im torn on what to get, i think im gonna end up getting cutouts, but what is the best cat back value wise, sound, and performance.....gmmg is just too expensive as much as id love to get it. Other than that what do you guys think about magnaflow? so far i think thats the best. But i was also lookn at loudmouth, and a few others. Headers will be added so i dont want it too loud. Anyways lemme know if u can. Thanks.

"Headers will be added so i dont want it too loud"

this statement does not mix well with the idea of buying a loudmouth.
IT'S CRAZY LOUD WITH NO CATS

that being said i really like my magnaflow, the price, quality and sound are all awesome.

it has a very nice tone at idle and on the highway, but it screams at WOT. right now i have an 18" bullet muffler on the Ipipe right behind the Ypipe, to help tone down some rasp since i ditched the cats.

i say go for the magnaflow, i think you can get it for $325 or so off ebay

I too have the Magnaflow...believe me I debated on which one to get too...but decided to buy Magnaflow for the price and it was also stainless steel. Anyways, if you want to see pics of the exhaust with Wings West Kit it's on page three on my site at the bottom.

Oh yeah, one more thing....I love the sound that it gives out at WOT. But I guess any aftermarket exhaust would sound better than stock...just my opinion.

Mufflex for flow. No 3" cat back can compare to 3.5 or 4" pipe.

Look around for a used set to get a good deal. Single in/out is decently priced, but the dual out is a bit pricey. I just happended upon a great deal for mine.

From what I've read and seen, the Magnaflow is a good deal. I just don;t dig the tips very much. Kind of truckish. It is more $ than the Hooker, but its stainless tubing where as the Hooker isn't. This may matter depending on where you live.

I have heard the SLP dual/dual on a car w/headers and cam and it sounded very nice and refined. Not overly loud yet definately noticable. You can get excellent deals on these because people take them off. They're 3" stainless tubing w/a great flowing muffler and I've seen them sell for $150 and under.

never heard the Magnaflow on an LS1, but i have it on my LT1 and i picked up a Dyno proven 14RWHP. Had the car dyno'd before and after the catback. Sounds great too, but again i have no idea what it sounds like on an LS1..but i'm willing to bet it sounds just as awesome as the LT1 and you cant beat the price! G'Luck with your choice!

I had the same debate about 6 months ago pretty much narrowed it down to magnaflow and loudmouth. I decided to go with magnaflow ( better looking tips, milder sound) and I got it for $349 shipped from hottexhaust.com I am very pleased with my magnaflow sounds great very mild at idle but screams at WOT. Much better cat-back for headers too, the loudmouth would sound like crap.
Installed in about an hour and a half, the best exhaust for the price

I have the Flowmasters, and it was cheap and sounds great. I plan on getting a cutout for performance.

Same here. I love the Flowmaster sound but performance is horrible. I am saving for an electric cut out now

If I had to choose an exhaust other than my GMMG, I would just custom fabricate something.

I say either go with a Magnaflow or Mufflex.

My neighbor has a 4" Mufflex on his '00 SS and I can honestly say it's the one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard. He also has MAC Mids and a Mufflex Catless Y. I think a 4" is still pretty big unless you're putting down some nice numbers, I would get a 3.5". I'm debating between the 2 as well. Mufflex is only about 30 minutes away from me and they're really good guys, so I'll probably get a 3.5" Mufflex.

Magnaflow is great too. Stainless Steel, sounds great, you cant really lose no matter which one you get.

I debated as well and chose the Magnaflow. It cackled like cherry bombs at first and I was sorry I got it but the muffler burned out in about 200 miles of driving and doesn't cackle much at all now. It has a nice mellow cruise sound but stomp it and it gets very loud. The muffler and tailpipes look so good it's too bad you can't see much of them under the car. I like it much better than the 1/4 a$$ done custom catback with a flowmaster muffler that my car came with. Stainless and $345 shipped on Ebay.
