Best Brake Pads???

I have a 98 Z28 and I just do normal driving. I hear that the HAWK brake pads are really good. Are there any other great kinds of brake pads?

Question What's wrong w/ OEM pads ?

I've got 51K on mine with the original pads - no gripes so far.

I plan on buying factory when it comes time for replacement.

Unless, of course, I am missing something somewhere that you people aren't telling me !!

Later !

I use Hawk HP Plus on the front, OEM on the back--The HP Plus is an intermediate pad, fine for street, okay for track. Tons of dust, but my brakes stop like a leech on flesh. Hawk HPS are their street pad--probably better than OEM, but not as good as the HP Plus.

Do some research, especially at LS1.com when its back up--lots of threads on pads.

Stick with the OEM GM Pads. They are a great pad that does not have dust.

Best deal in my opinion? Raybestos ceramic pads. If you can't find Raybestos, go to CarQuest and get their brand ceramic pads, which are made by Raybestos.

The ceramic pads are super quiet, ZERO dust on the wheels, and have a lifetime warranty. Oh, and they come with all new shims.

I paid $150 for pads for all 4 wheels at CarQuest. When they wear out, take them back to CarQuest and get another set.

depends on how hard you use the brakes. after two 80+ mph HARD stops in succesion, i had the stock pads stinking terribly and fading badly. if you don't ever drive hard, then the stock pads are great.

i tried the hawk hps, and although they stopped well and were fade resistant, they dusted a LOT. i then tried the pro-touring pads from sbs. they dust a little more than stock, but not all that bad. and they will haul you down for 150+ mph speeds without any noticeable fade. they are kinda pricey, though.
