Best 1/4 Wheels/Tires

Currently I have Z06 18" wheels, 9.5/10.5, & Pirelli P7000 SS 255/275 Tires. How do you think this setup will work at the track. i'm guessing not that great, considering there heavy 18s, low-profile, and handling tires, right? Anyway, where's a good place to get track wheels and tires, I guess something like 16" by 11 would do it, with some drag radials.

the tires will work fine, just gotta know how to work with them. I ran decent times on some crappy remington zr245/55/16 back in the day. 13.08s on a bone stock 98z. Other times for the day were 13.4-13.2's my 1st time at the track. It's all about the launch technique.

you can pick up some 16x8 " firebird wheels cheap from SLP and stick some 10" ET streets or drag radials on em.

or get S10 truck wheels and mount ET streets on them. I spent 300 for my tires (29x10.5-15) and 25$ on a pair of wheels. they work real good and they are not heavy.

Re: Best 1/4 Wheels/Tires

I just looked at local boards and found sets of wheels then bought new tires for them.. I was doing a test for my website back in the day (raceher.com - now defunct)...

I know I didnt spend much per wheel and the tires I would shop for the best deal.. just remember you want to get the narrowest tire you can get away with.. meaning you dont want too wide a tire when a narrow one will do... overkill will kill your times...

get some front mount skinnies too... good luck and post your times.. get a pass or two on your current setup and see the difference.. remember.. no burnouts on street tires.. its pointless.. burnouts are for sticky tires.. not street..

you should spin em just a little to whip the stones off em and get em down to fresh rubber. but as he said, no smoke is necessary.
