B&M ripper shifter

how much hp can stock handle before switching over to a ripper?
On a side note, what doe the ripper shifters do? How are they different than stock shifter (hurst right?)

None of the ening power is transferred though the shifter. Therefore the stock will work no matter how much horsepower your engine has. The B&M simply shortens the throw if the shifter, making for shorter and quicker shifts. If also decreses the chances of mis-shifting into the wrong gear. They are are very good investment, get one!

I have the B&M Ripper with the MBA shift ****. The shifting is smooth & missing a gear is almost impossible, I definitely recommend it.

I had both the ripper and a pro 5.0 in my 99 TA. I liked the ripper better. Either is VAST improvement over stock though.

Look for one in the classifieds on ls1.com. try it out and if you don't like it sell it for what youaid for it. Trust me though, you'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner, lol.

the factory shifter will also tear up ur tranny because it doesn't have the stops on it and it over throws the shifter and eats up the tranny. i've had the ripper and if you have smaller hands the pro 5.0 is GREAT!!!!! i love it it was alot better than my ripper

What genius told you that the factory transmission was dangerous for the car?

The T56 version that the LS1 cars use has internal stops. No need to use the ones that come on an aftermarket shifter, and there is NO danger from using the factory one.

I have a Ripper as well and love it! I cut another inch off the top so it's extra short now!!!! It's a good investment!! It's an easy install as well!

A lot of people love the short shifter handles, but it's not my thing. Maybe I have short arms, who knows. The 1" difference between the Pro 5.0 and the stock shifter was enough.
